Make the name yours before you print it
A trademark is the name, logo or slogan people know you by. We find out if it’s free to use, file it with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and see it through to registration.
Most of our trademark clients come to us between choosing a name and ordering the first run of labels. That’s the cheap moment: changing a name costs a logo file. Changing it after a letter from a bigger brand costs the stock, the domain and the followers.
What the work covers
A search of registered and unregistered uses, read by a lawyer
A written opinion on the risk, in plain words
The application, filed in the classes you actually sell in
Watching the file and answering the routine letters

How trademark work is billed
Each job has one fee, quoted in writing before we start.
Search and application
A full search, our written opinion and the filed application. The fee covers one class.
Search and written opinion
Application in one class
Status updates until registration
Each added class
When you sell the same name in a second kind of goods or services. Billed per added class.
Office action response
Our reply when an examiner raises a refusal on the merits. Billed per response.
Government filing fees are extra and passed on at cost; we tell you the amount before we file.
Questions
Trademark questions we get on every call
Do I need a trademark if I already have an LLC?
Forming a company reserves the name with the state for that company’s records. It doesn’t give you rights in the name as a brand, and it doesn’t stop another business using it.
How long does registration take?
Usually about a year from filing, sometimes longer. You can use ™ from day one; the ® waits for the certificate.
What if the search turns something up?
We tell you how close it is and what the realistic risks are. Sometimes the answer is a small change to the name. You decide before anything is filed.
Picked a name? Let’s check it.
Send us the name and what you’ll sell under it. We’ll book a call and quote the search.
